Yeah, the Stromu was not very good, and my introduction to [things called] absinthe. In its sole defense, it came in a nice bottle (in fact, I still have the bottle around here somewhere). One of my friends keeps mentioning seeing Lucid in the liquor store; but I don't think that anyone I know has seen anything besides that and Absente in the New England area, so ordering from a website might be the way to go. Also, considering how much Manson enjoys his absinthe, I wouldn't put it past his abilities to create a decent one himself. That might be the one to get.

Yow! Before dropping over a hundred dollars on czech mouthwash, czech out some local offerings. There are two real absinthes now available in the US, Kubler and Lucid. Both can be ordered from drinkupny.com with free shipping for less than $70. I can tell you from personal experience that they tast FAR better than Stromu of Strong68 or any other macerations and oil blends. The reason the Stromu did not louche is because it is not absinthe, it is a high proof liquor base that someone left a bunch of herbs sit in for a while. Both Kubler and Lucid are made with Grande Wormwood. Lucid has a more tame flavor tuned for American tastes, whereas the Kubler is unaltered from its original Suisse origins. If you DO want to order something from Alandia I would suggest Jade Blanchette or the Mansinthe (despite the name, I have heard good reviews.) Cheers on the ensuing Absinthism!
